Legacy

I'm tired. I didn't get much sleep last night and have been going most of the day. Trying to help. All you can do is watch the kids, try to find nooks and crannies to put food in and keep the house picked up. Christina is doing OK. The kids are doing OK. The bigger boys decided to go ahead and play football as the whole stadium had a moment of silence for their Dad. They both won and had GREAT games. A few tackles recorded between the two of them and even a recovered fumble. The little ones are sweet as pie and getting spoiled rotten. Belly aches will abound tonight with all the junk they've eaten.
An Air Force liason has been to the house several timesto help with arrangements...that's his job. Really nice guy. Aaron McCoy led him to the Lord less than a month ago. Just one person's life that this man touched. One out of so many all over the military world.
Leaving a legacy,
~Shannon

Please pass my condolences to Christina. Aaron and I were stationed together at Hurlburt Field for many years. If there's anything she or her family needs please let me know. I have recently moved from the Ft. Walton area, but there are scores of people there who can and will help immediately. Once you know of any arrangements please pass to me at wturner67@comcast.net

Thanks,

Bill Turner

Him and his family(Dave, Linda, Adam, Amy, Leah) where always there if you needed anything. He will be missed greatly. Let me know if there is anything I can do. turboIS@gmail.com Thanks Tyler Defibaugh

I am Aaron McCoy's youngest sister and I thank you for your time and compassion with Christina. My parents are with her now and I (and my siblings) will arrive tomorrow. Words cannot express the pain and sadness that we share at this time. But we rejoice (with Aaron) knowing that he was immediately present with our Heavenly Father. He impacted so many throughout his short lifetime but we know that Christ can & will use his death to touch more lives than we may EVER know. Aaron left a legacy! Our days on this Earth will soon pass, only what's done for Christ will last. We all covet your prayers at this time.

Resting in God's Grace,

I am Reba, Aaron's cousin on the McCoy side. I was lucky that I was able to see him and meet his children within the last few years. Growing up, Adam, Amy, Aaron, and Leah were an amazingly full part of my life. We all belonged to the McCoy 10 (the grandchildren will understand that one) We "ran the ridge" together. We jumped off the bridge (the one right before their house in "the valley") and swam for hours. I remember Aaron's smile and his HUGE heart. My prayers go out to Christina and his children, Aunt Linda, Uncle Dave, Adam, Amy and Leah. I love you all. Big prayers and hugs from Houston.

Arron and my husband served together in the 53AS at Little Rock AFB. We have only known the McCoy's for a couple of years but from the moment we met Aaron, he and Christina welcomed us in their home and their hearts. Aaron was a a wonderful husband, father and friend and he will be missed dearly. Thank you to all of the people who are taking such good care of Christina and the kids. If ANYONE needs anything, please let us know.

I first arrived to Hurlburt Field in 1991 flying on the AC-130H gunship, and in 1998 I moved over to the AC-130U gunships; that's when I met Aaron. I had the pleasure of working with Aaron for many, many years. The thing that immediately struck me about him was his wonderful smile! I can't think of a single time I ever saw Aaron when he wasn't wearing that enormous, warm smile. Some say the eyes are the window to the soul, and that may be true, but Aaron's smile was also a window into his soul. Without uttering a single word his smile spoke of his character, his spirit, his kindness, his warmth, his honesty, his humor, his compassion, his faith, his honor, and his love. He was always such a tremendous joy to be around...so uplifting. Even when we were deployed for Afghanistan and Iraq and things were going a little rough, Aaron always knew how to change the mood of the masses and get everyone laughing and feeling better. He had an instantaneous, infectious effect on morale. He was the guy you always wanted on your crew, he was the guy everyone wanted for a friend, he was the guy everyone looked to for inspiration, and he was the guy whose viewpoint you wanted to agree with...he was a tremendous, inspirational leader of people! Aaron touched so many lives by the way he lived his life. He was an amazing man and I know I'm a better person for knowing him.

Peace be with you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

My son plays football with Chandler and went to JCA with him. He has been to church with Chandler as well. We love this family and our deeply saddened by this loss. As we all know, he is in a wonderful peaceful place and the comfort of knowing that is wonderful but does not lessen the sadness in our hearts. If anything is needed, please let us know and keep us posted on the arrangements. tacastleberry@PinnacleBSI.com. Tracy Castleberry and Family

Please pass on my most sincere apologies to Christina and her children. I met Aaron and Christina at Cinco Baptist Church. My husband, Chad, and I attended their Sunday School class before moving to serve the young people. Aaron was a great teacher and friend and because of his military background, was intrumental in helping Chad to find a church home in his class. He made us feel welcome and comfortable and we loved them. Christina was always as infectious as he, and together they were a team you wanted to be around and be a part of. I will never forget what they did for us by example. Aaron McCoy, you will be sorely missed and I am comforted by the knowledge that you were welcomed into Heaven with a mighty trumpet and a multitude thanking you for always putting the Lord first and sharing Him with so many. The lives Aaron changed in his time here will be more so impacted to share with those who did not know him. This is the glory of his legacy. Christina, we love you. We are so sorry for your loss. The world lost a great man, but Heaven...well, Heaven gained a true saint. God bless you, McCoy Bunch. We love you,

Shannon, you did an awesome job on this blog. Im impressed. I just got a call from Michelle Maynard (Aaron's squadron commander's wife)they are providing meals for Wednesday. The military has been so great! Im going at lunch to look for suits for Samuel and Chandler! Wish me luck. I just want to say that like everyone else has mentioned, Aaron's smile is etched in my memory and he made an immediate impact on my life. I can still imagine his laugh. Im sad that I did not get to hug him and tell him how much he is Loved before he left us but Im at peace knowing he is in heaven with our Lord. Aaron was a great teacher and witness and will be greatly missed. We will all see him again someday in Heaven. As Rob said yesterday in Sunday school, lets remember to try to be the kind of person Aaron was. A servant for the Lord and a witness who always had a loving attitude and smile. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know him. I miss you Aaron!
