This Season

What I am most thankful for in this season of thankfulness is this precious man.Roy Rufus Strange.
I've blogged about him before.
He's my 88 year old Pawpaw.
I am so incredibly thankful that he is my Pawpaw.
A very kind and gentle man.
(Although I've heard a story or 2 about him back in the day being a bit of a rounder.)
Over the last several months I've learned some things about my Pawpaw. I've heard many stories relayed by my Dad about my Pawpaw's military experience. He is a WWII veteran. A veteran who was shot in the back of the head by a German sniper. He wears a plate in the back of his head because of it. He was discharged in the 1940's with 100% disability. One year later without explanation his disability was knocked down to 50%. Over the last 13 or so months my Dad has made it his personal mission to see that my Pawpaw is given what's due him from the last 60 + years. He has run the gamut at the VA and has contacted our State Senators. Progress is being made in the right direction.
He was awarded 8 medals for his military service. One being the Bronze Star with another being the Purple Heart.

This makes me proud.

He worked hard to care for his 4 kids, my mother being one of those 4. He loved my Grannie.

Mutt, as he is affectionately known, is nearing the end of his time.

Won't you pray for him?

He is the last of my grandparents.

I love this man.

The real truth is....Facebook is the devil.

It's an addiction.

For whatever reason.

I seriously have been missing my blog. I really don't much like to blog without pics but I don't have any pics on this here new computer that I'm using. It's a laptop. Thank God for laptops. I hated sitting at out old crappy computer. It was crappy and I hated the chair and the desk. I'm currently sitting in my bed because my sweet husband 'hooked us up' and we now have wireless Internet. I know - we're probably miles behind the real world in getting it but whatever. We now have it and I now am blogging.

Aren't you glad?

Maybe someday I'll catch you all up on the past few month but for now - we'll just start from here.

The last few years I have come to despise cooking.

Hate it.

I think it just overwhelms me because I think I have so many other things to do. Anybody that's been to my house in the last few years knows that I'm not much of a housekeeper.

It's me.

Really.

It is.

Let me try to explain.

Our computer at home was pretty dead.

I HATED getting on it and when I did...Mike was irritated that I WAS on it and because I was on it I wanted to cuss because it was a piece-o-crap.

I used to do a lot of my blogging at work.

Shhh...don't tell anybody.

We now have a Nazi boss who micro manages and we now have some type of mess on our machines that tracks where we go on line.

Needless to say...I don't get online much anymore.

I need my job!

I have to figure out how to download my pictures from my new camera again - I think I have to find a disc or something or other.

So be looking for more updates from me....that is-if you really DO read my blog, anymore.

I have a new phone.

A Blackberry.

I'll have to try and blog from there.

We'll just have to see about that now won't we.

I guess that's what happens when they're each spaced 5 years apart.

Okay so I suck at blogging anymore.
Seriously.
I'm gonna do better.

Here's a few pics (yeah right- -only a few?) from our last night on va-k.
I learned of this place called The Hangout from a fellow blogger that I've followed for a really long time. I'll tell more about her later, though.

She's the total coolest!

We actually stayed in Perdido Key which is pretty much in between Gulf Shores and Pensacola. Not a whole lot to do there. Mike and I scoped this place out earlier in the week and decided we would certainly go there.

On Friday night, our last night, after taking family beach pics we headed on down. There was one person who WAS NOT happy about going there. This one person had a mind to go somewhere else.

Too bad.

We're going to hangout at The Hangout.

It's an open-air restaurant with so many things to do.

Sand for the little ones to play in, lots of seating as you wait....for AN HOUR AND A HALF!!!!

But can I tell you that it was so worth the wait.

We had SO stinkin much fun.

They had a band playing on a stage that rocked it.

And have I told you that this was THE best vacation that we've had (except for Disney World)?

We'll just have to take those Texans back on vacation with us again next year!

As I sit here at work typing this I have just called Carson to check in on him and see what he's been up to today.

The youngest.

Our baby.

He's 11.

His voice is changing.

Heavy sigh.

I'm also thinking that this is the BIG weekend!

The weekend that Kody finally moves out.

Our oldest.

He's 22.

My oldest is moving out and my baby is growing up.

I e-mailed Mike and made the comment that Carson's voice was changing.

His reply....'sad'.

I replied with 'but he still loves his momma-whoever she is'.

Of course I'm kidding about who his momma is.

Mike replied with 'new chapters in our lives. Fun but a bit sad'.

The last day of 5th grade.

The last day I'll ever have a kid in elementary school.

I didn't cry until I saw a woman behind me almost sobbing.

I looked at Mike, smiled, laughed to keep from totally bawling and he laughed and walked away...only because he was crying like a little girl!

He was so hacked because I wouldn't buy him a suit. He even offered to buy it himself. I just thought it was a waste of money. He'd never wear it again.

I didn't get a pic of him shaking hands. A lady stood up right in front of me to take a picture of her kid that had ALREADY walked. I was hacked...and isn't that typical? Mrs. Gray (holding the yellow paper) came to watch Carson and a few others.
She had him for 2nd and 3rd grade. One of our fave teachers!I thought this shirt looked awesome on him. What a pretty color.

So I have no frazzlin idea on how to post pictures on this stupid thing anymore.

I mean I DO but I just don't know how to make them orderly.

And THAT my friends makes me crazy.

Pictures can't tell a story when they're out of stinking order now can they?

Me peeps (no pun intended) at work gave me a plant for 'Administrative Professionals Day'.

You'll see it later in the post because I obviously can't put it in order!

It's a pretty little plant that I'll kill in no time.

But it looks nice on my porch.

Kinda homey looking.

Maybe a little too homey looking because a momma bird decided to make a home there.

This is the end result of the nest making/egg laying. These are the last pictures that I got of the babies before momma either moved them (not sure how she would have done that) or they flew away. Looking like this...I don't think that they flew.

All the stuff around the edge of the nest is just plain nasty looking but I think it's regurgitated worm.

I know.

Gross.

Notice the egg to the right. Never did hatch.

It's still in the nest although the babies are gone.

See...It's just not an effective tool for story telling without order!

My intentions for the day were to clean house.
Ahum.
Yes.
I was going to clean house.
And I started off with a bang.
I was then going to run and get some necessities to make Mike a nice birthday dinner and cake....or pie.
Or actually cake that's called pie.
He wanted a Boston Creme Pie.
So I get a phone call as I'm feverishly cleaning (Okay - not really).
It's Chase.
He's at the ballpark and he needs another scorekeeper.
Which field I ask.
The big one.
Ummm....okay. I'll be there in a sec.
The scorers table at the big field doesn't have a shade from the sun.
Okay.
I'll be there in a sec.
I've been needing some sun.
My tanning visits ran out and I really don't want to spend the money and don't really have the time for more. Our trip to the beach is in less than 3 weeks.
We are SO ready!
So anyway....I digress.
After I'm done keeping score I continue to hang around the ballpark. That's where my family is. Kody was umping (I kept score for his field) and I watched Mike ump as well. Chase was also keeping score and Carson actually was hired to shag balls for the legion game. I LOVE to watch my family working at the ballpark.
So since we were all at the park together I just decided to stay and enjoy the beautiful weather and my family.
I did not get any shopping done.
I did not get any cooking done.
We went out for Mike's birthday.
Casa Mexicana...the usual.
He called Chi-up and Tammy and they met us there.
Always a great time with them.
So honey...I'm really sorry that the day didn't turn out like I had intended.
But I DO love you at 41!
And I will love you at 51 and 61 and even forever!

Spring Break '09

Thursday of Spring Break Mike and I took off and planned on a 'day trip' with the boys. We wanted to do a little something before Carson's upcoming surgery. We tried for days to figure out where we were going to go-what we were going to do. Mike woke up that morning and decided that we would go to Memphis.

Sounds good.

We started our tour at Rendezvous.

Not so impressed.

Isn't that THE place to eat in Memphis?

Been there done that-won't do it again.

We cruised around Beale Street for a bit letting the boys experience it.

Chase and I were inside a shop when and when we walk out we see Mike and Carson talking to someone. He knows someone everywhere!

I got closer and come to find out it was Carson' teacher and her husband. Mike said they walked by her and Carson look at him and mouthed the words Is that Mrs. Crawford?

I took their picture together but I think I lost that and several others by accidentally deleting them.

Note to self....work on recovering those pics very soon.

The semi-finals of the NCAA tournament were also in town. We just happened upon Gonzaga coming back to their hotel from practice. I also got pictures of that, too. Or maybe not.

Mike's Uncle warren lives just down the road from Gonzaga in Spokane, WA.

Then off to the Zoo.

Today Chase turns 16.

Sweet 16.

At 8:44 a.m. to be exact.His due date was April 23rd and I was actually scheduled to be induced on April 21 which was a Thursday. I decided I would take the day before (Wednesday, April 20th) off from work to rest and prepare. I had gotten up some time in the night and went to lay in Kody's bed. I don't really remember why now but I do know that Kody wasn't in there when I woke up. He must have come and crawled in bed with Mike and I and somehow I ended up in his bed. I woke up around 6:45 knowing that I needed to get Kody up and ready for school. I laid there for a few minutes and contractions hit. After about 20 or so minutes of trying to decide if that's really what it was I woke Mike up and told him that I thought this was it. We called my mom to come and get Kody. I took a shower and walked around our small little tri-plex waiting on my mom. We left the house at about 7:30ish. Can you say rush hour traffic? As I almost pull the seat belt off the door we arrive at the hospital. Mike parks all wampy-jawwed in the front of the hospital and we make it up to LDR. We walk through the waiting room at 8:10 am. I get changed and 'roll' into bed at 8:15.

Chase was born at 8:44.

In a fashion only true to Chase...he just could not wait.

We certainly did not have a boy name picked out.

Had he been a girl he would have been Madison Marie.

Marie after my Grannie who passed away when I was pregnant with him. We finally name him about an hour before we left the hospital.

Hayden Chase.

Chase.

Hmmmm.

Mike used to say when he was much younger and much more ADHD that had we known he was to be a wild child we would have named him Pokey....instead of Chase.

All I did for years was chase Chase.

He's his own unique person.

And we love him for that.

So happy 16th Pokey....ur, um I mean Chase!

I love you more than you could ever know.

I think I forgot to tell you that Chase got his permit. He passed on the first try. I was impressed. He's always been a good driver. Even when he was like 3 when we got him that Power Wheels Jeep. He would put it in reverse and turn his head around to watch where he was going. Even then I was impressed.

Soggy Easter

A little while ago my mom had suggested that we go on a picnic for Easter. Mother Nature saw fit that we didn't have a picnic yesterday.

Instead we had dinner at Nana and Poppa's house.

I always like to go to their house for the annual Easter pictures. I like pictures near the flower bed of their back yard.

In years past it's been a struggle to keep them all clothed (not really actually clothed) but as we're getting out of the car yesterday I reminded them to keep their shirts tucked in, belts and shoes on. They actually complied!

What?

Each Easter seems to get a little easier. Easter's past have always been so hectic and stressful for me...just like most holidays. Now that they're all grown (or almost grown - -or think they're grown) it's not so hectic.

Of course it wouldn't be complete without pics!

Carson looks like he's been in a war with all the scratches on his face and neck.

Oh yeah - he has a new hair do.

Uh-huh!

And yes - he actually went to church with us.
I was glad.

Roll the foil that is.

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself. Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box? You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over.. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time..Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.I'm sharing this with my friends. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

Our Finest

Now that G-Ridge has been annexed into Sherwood we have the added protection of the Sherwood Police Department. Now Mike and I seem to be in the minority and love their presence. Soon after the annex became official SPD came into town on their horses...not literally of course. They were everywhere. A long time friend who was AGAINST the annexation was not happy about the presence of the SPD. He made the comment to us that he hoped that everybody who voted for the annexation got pulled over at least (I can't actually remember how many times he said). Whatever. I think it's crazy.

So for the last few weeks I've been working a 2nd job. It's only temporary. My sweet most precious husband has taken over our bills. Can I tell you how incredibly grateful I am for that? To be quite honest with you I SUCK at paying bills and all that money crap in general. Though it was H-A-R-D to give it up. Control I guess. I don't really know. But God and I talked about it. He finally had to fling me around a bit but I finally listened.

I digress.

I'm working the 2nd job to finish paying some bills off and possibly to take our family on a vacation this summer. Something we've not done in 5 years...since we went to Disney World. I think people need vacations. They're good for you. I'm working my butt off for the next few months so we can go on a vacation. For a week. But we'll surely be debt free...for the most party anyway! PTL!! This job consists of some driving. I don't mind a little driving...sometimes - if it doesn't take too long to get there. I'm the type that just wants to get there. So whilst in the scope of my employment the driving can be ummm well let's just say a little rushed. I know I've been driving fast...but I try to keep an eye out for the po-po.

Wellllll evidently I wasn't too keen on the cop watching because they nailed me Sunday night coming home from my moonlighting job. I was on Brockinton. Just as I looked in my rear view mirror thinking to myself that that car was sure nuff on my tail -

BLUE LIGHTS!

Dangit!

As I round the corner to pull over I figure I'll stop up there at the entrance to Gap Creek. Ummm....well - that is if I can find a place to pull over because there's already 2 stinking cops that have pulled over some poor unsuspecting victim! Sheesh! I pull around them just as they're releasing that poor soul. Anytime you see one SPD you're gonna see another. I have no problem with that. There's safety in numbers, right? So one of the officers stays as my dude prepares to hammer me....or so I thought.

I get out my license. He approaches.

His name - Officer Adams.

Humph.

Yeah.

Pleased to meet you.

Not really.

The reason I stopped you is you were doing 50 in a 35.

I didn't agree nor did I disagree.

He asks me what my husband does.

I replied "What do you need him to do? He'll do whatever you need him to do?

Seriously. I did say that.

I tell him where he works.

Hmmm. He said. I guess Sanders is a pretty common name.

I guess he thought maybe he knew my husband.

I'm sure he probably does - everybody else does.

He steps back to the car with my documents. In the meantime I hear sirens in the distance. As that nice little ol officer comes back to my vehicle I hear him talking into his radio saying "I got it". As he delivers my paperwork he tells me to drive safe and slow down.

Really?

Oh thank you nice police officer!

As I continue on my way home hitting the metropolis of G-Ridge I see another one of Sherwood's finest fixing to pull out of a neighborhood. He pulls in right behind me.

Really?

He follows me all the way to my neighborhood.

He follows me into my neighborhood.

OMG.

As I go up my street he peels off and heads the other way which also leads to my house. I back into my drive way and here he comes. He stops right in front of my driveway. It was Officer Phillip Gray. Phillip had already stopped by our house once on Sunday afternoon. He used to work at the after school program that Carson used to go to that was run by the city. He saw Carson out running with the hoodlums in our neighborhood and stopped to kick it with him for a minute. Of course when you see your kids head in a cop's car window and especially one of MY kids - it's a little unnerving. Mike and I went out to talk with Phillip. Really sweet and a little cutie, too.

Well to make this long story not so much longer Phillip heard nice little ol Officer Adams call my license in laster that evening after our little chat out in the driveway. I asked him when he stopped by as I was pulling in that night if he had heard me getting pulled over on his radio. He had.

Mike and I were in Wendy's on Monday evening catching a bite to eat. We're the only ones in the restaurant. In walks nice little ole Officer Adams. After ordering his food he walks into the dining area and I asked him if he he pulled me over last night.

I did was his reply.

I thanked for him for being so nice and he and Mike chatted (of course) and Mike told him he appreciated it also. Apparently Phillip had called him. YEAH for Phillip. It DOES pay to know people.

And I HAVE slowed down by the way.

For the time being anyway!

We had been in Vilonia ALL day for a ball tournament.

(I had been wearing a hat all day and obviously my make-up was way too light because I'm awfully pasty looking)

This was taken at a wedding that Mike and I attended back in 2003.

Oh my gosh it was the funnest thing ever.

The wedding was of my then friend and now my boss' daughter.

Dancing and all....it was SO much fun.

The Bad Along With The Good

Losing someone is never easy.
I would imagine it's especially tough when it's your own child.
I can't speak to that.
I've never been there.
And I pray that I'm never there.
But Mike and I have become friends with a group of people who have experienced this loss.
The girls.

A few weekends ago after one of Carson's basketball games we decided to go to the Clinton Library. I was still taking my photography class and needed to try and get some shots for my homework. Mike and Carson weren't exactly pumped about ti but it was nice day to be outside.

P is for people you were with today: Just me and Carson for most of the day and he spent that mainly outside. It's 5 in the evening and Mike just rolled in from being at the ballpark for workday. Yes, it is 5 and I have not even showered today. If you want to know the real truth I haven't even brushed my teeth (yet). I know. GROSS. I LOVE days like this although I do hate to miss beautiful days.

R is for regrets: Ahhh I don't know. I hate to really think about regrets. It means I probably didn't do something right or missed out on moments and I'd rather not think of those things.

Just Check It Out

For a couple months now Carson has been complaining of kidney pain. Conveniently it's been ever since he went to the doctor after having a fever and throwing up a time or two. The doc asked if it hurt when he peed and if his kidneys or back hurt.

His reply...no.

So since then he says he has kidney pain.

I, in all my motherly wisdom, blew it off.

Hypochondria

I believe it's inherited.

I'll not say from who's side.

Mike told me to make him an appointment.

Yeah right.

I eventually did. Just to shut them up. Mike took him.

When leaving the Dr's office Mike gave me a ringy-dingy.

Me: So what's the deal?

Mike: He had some blood in his urine.

Me: Uuuummm.....really?

Mike: Yeah.

Okay so again for about the umpteenth time

I win the most coveted of all awards...

Mother Of The Year

After the urinalysis our pediatrician (and I DO love that man)actually watched him pee (to check his stream)and then wanted him seen by a urologist (Dr. Mooney).

The urologist sent him for ultrasounds of his kidneys and bladder just to make sure nothing else was really wrong but it all boils down to the fact that he needs a bigger pee opening. After a minor surgical procedure which will take place on the 27th he should be a 'new man'....if you know what I mean.

Not exactly sure where the blood in the urine (which is microscopic) is coming from. Could be because the opening is too small and I guess you could call it back pressure (same thing for the kidney pain...if there really actually is any:)) I informed the doctor that I had been diagnosed with hematuria. No causes or reason. I've had all kinds of tests. The doc wants to scope Carson at the time of his little surgery just to check it out and see. Probably nothing. But like Mike said....you never know.

Last Sunday Mike had to go up to the ballpark to bust up some concrete. Tim met him up there with his little mini back ho. Tim pretty much ran the track ho while Mike busted up concrete with a sledge hammer. Chase hung around some and asked to work the back ho. Tim let him and he totally mastered it. He stayed on it ALL afternoon and loved it. He was SO good at it. Chase busting up some concrete with a little cleavage showing.

Our Expedition started acting a little crazy last week. I feel as though I need a post about my beloved Expedition all by itself. I LOVE that car. We've had it for 7 years now. It was a used car when we bought it and it had 16,000 miles on it. It has been the best vehicle EVER! I am still SO so in love with that thing. I pray for it.

I pray for my Expedition.

That it lasts a really long time. The ole girl has 177,000 miles on her. And I think she'll go a good ways more.

So anywho.

When it started acting funny I knew that it must be about time. I gently mentioned to Mike that it might be time to start looking for another. (sniff-sniff....sob) I knew our tax return would be able to help out with sales tax and because we never have that large of an amount just hanging around...I knew it was time to at least mention it. Last Saturday after Carson's game we went shopping. Car shopping. Valentine car shopping. Time well spent with my love. Just the 2 of us. In the last 8-10 days Mike has called everyone that he knows or even thought about knowing that had, will have or might even think about having anything to do with cars.

And you know that Mike knows lots of people.

Well we both really started praying about it. I prayed that the Lord would even send us to the right salesman. We ended up last Saturday at North Point Ford. Sam the salesman came out to meet us. We wanted to do a test drive. He was new so he had to go in and get Rich Whitaker a real salesman. He goes with us on a couple rides. As we're pulling out Mike mentions that one of the salesman out on the lot looked like Randy. Randy sold us our Expedition way back in 01. He was at a different dealership. It was indeed Randy. He remembered us. He should have as much grief that we gave him back then. So long story a little less long...we ended up dealing primarily with Randy. It was relatively painless. Thank you for that Lord.

We had driven another car that was used and 2 years old that I really loved! The vehicle we ended up getting was the same exact price as the used one.

Everyone that Mike called to ask their opinion about the deal we were getting seemed to think that it was a 'heck of a deal".

We went to school together beginning in Jr. High but Mike was always around football and baseball and since my brothers played I'm sure we made eye contact at some point. Destiny. That's what it was. He says that he remembers seeing me in my little pee wee cheerleading outfit while he was on the football field (running a touchdown I'm quite sure) and knowing that he was going to marry me. Mike actually grew up in SW Little Rock until he was about 8 or so and then moved to this area. I was born and raised here.

I am of course. Okay so not really. For the first several years of our marriage I thought I was the smarter one. I guess the old saying is true...you find out the older you get the less you really know. Mike is certainly smarter than me. He has taught me so much about my own self.

Really? It is SO not me. I'm not one for compassion and lovey stuff. Just ask him - he'll tell you. When we watch chick flicks he'll look over at me to see if I'm crying. Ummm...no. I laugh at him because he usually is. He's just a sensitive little fella.

Fast food is Wendy's and non fast food is usually Carino's.

We discussed this just last week. I really can't tell you the last time I got flowers. It's nice and all - if you have expendable income. All is see is $ signs withering up. Clean my house, cook me dinner or take me shopping. That means more to me than anything. (Can you tell what my love language is?)

We've always switched it up...although Christmas Eve is ALWAYS at my parents as well as 4th of July.

Not very.

I do most all of the laundry. Changes are soon to come, though. I'm fixing to teach Chase AND Carson how to do their own. I have learned through trial and error that my children need to know how to do things on their own. And the earlier you teach them...the better off everyone is.

Mike works on them for a living!

♥ Who drives when you are together?

We used to carpool to work together. He would drive to work (so I could put my face on) and I would drive home...while he always slept. He's out of town so much now that we rarely carpool because he has the company vehicle. But on the norm it's mostly him.

He had plans for Valentine's evening but Tammy called and needed help. She was shooting at a high school dance at the Clinton Library. Mike and I both went. It's so pretty there at night. Later we had dinner with the Blenden's and enjoyed our evening out.

It's In The Past

I know Thanksgiving is over.

It's way over.

But if you'll remember I couldn't post pictures for forever.

Well here's the Thanksgiving post.

We went to my PawPaw's house.

It was actually pretty low key. Not a whole lot of people there...just the important ones with the exception of my Texas brother)

I do believe it was one of the best Thanksgiving's that I can remember.

And I must brag on myself that we arrived ON TIME!

Everyone was shocked!

Usually we roll in about the time everybody is sitting down to eat.

We actually had to sit and wait for the food to be put on the table!

The pictures start out with Taylor...of course.

And here's 2 of my favorite people.

This is my PawPaw's mule. A different kind of mule than he's used to but none the less it helps him get up to the barn and where he needs to be. I think these are the coolest things invented...and way fun to drive.

This is a box that was added on to the house when I was little. One of my PawPaw's many little projects. It was used to put fire wood in and it opened on the inside of the house where you could pull the fire wood from the box. A pretty ingenious idea I think. I do come from good stock don't I? We used to play in this box all the time - crawling in and out.

Kody called me this morning just as I was about to walk out the door to go to work. He told me to turn the radio on real quick to 103.7 The Buzz.

They 're talking about Lawson Phillips.

The Buzz and several other local radio stations do this 'Wish-a-thon' every year to raise money for Make-A-Wish.

I turned the radio on and heard Lawson's momma talking.

Mike and I cried.

Lawson's death had such an impact on Carson. Like I've said before he never really 'knew' Lawson that well although they did play on the same football team together.

During one of the Arkansas Twisters games last spring they invited Carson's team to scrimmage another one of our teams.

All of the boys participating received these #7 stickers seen here on Carson's helmet.

In memory of Lawson.

So as the old song says.... Turn Your Radio On.....

and make a donation in memory of Lawson.

Cooking Tip

Ever used these?

I've been trying to cook more lately. (You know the umm...economy) Not eating out too much these days. I put some chicken on this morning and decided (actually I remembered that I had them) to use these crock pot liners. I was skeptical. I truly thought that they would melt and/or tear. It fit perfectly into my crock pot. Chase stayed home today because he was sick (yeah right) and about halfway through the day I called and told him to pop open a few cans of cream of mushroom (a total miracle aid in my cooking realm) and plop them on top of the chicken.

Wa-la!

I ran home long enough to change clothes and head out to my class. Chase, who I might add is quite the cook, fixed up some rice and we had us some chicken and rice.

It was just dandy!

Easiest clean up in history!

I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected:

A half-gallon of 2% milk

A carton of eggs

A quart of orange juice

A head of lettuce

A 2 lb. Can of coffee

A 1 lb. Package of bacon

As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated,

'You must be single.'

I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since I indeed had never found Mr. Right. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said, 'Yes you are correct. But how on earth did you know that?'

The drunk replied,

'Cause you're ugly.'

Oh my Lord ......I cackled!!!!!!

Here they are.

One of my most favoritest Christmas presents ever.

I LOVE LOVE this camera.
I am so far from even knowing how to use it though.
I really need to just sit down and read about - like the manual would be so helpful.
Last week was my 2nd week of classes at Bedford. Some of the people in there actually know what they are doing...unlike myself. I can point and shoot the heck out of a camera but get to talking about shutter speed, stops, ISO and all that jazz....I get a little lost and somewhat overwhelmed. Tammy encouraged me and told me she would help me with anything. She told me to turn to Youtube. They have tons of tutorials. I am somewhat of a visual/hands on learner. I've watched a few with a better understanding.
Our class was canceled this week due to the inclement weather.
I was glad.
I had not done my homework.
(Don't tell my kids!)
I still have time!
Anywho.
I'm loving my camera.
And many MANY thanks to those that though enough of me to give me this gift. It's a gift that I absolutely love and it's also something that I can also use to share with everyone!

He says he won't play baseball again this year and this might even be his last year to play basketball.
