Would They?

After just watching the press conference regarding a named suspect in the Anne Pressly case, Mike made an observation. He said how much he appreciated all the hard work that the police department had been doing but if this had happened to you (meaning me) when they had found a suspect....would they be having a breaking news press conference?
I think he had a point.
Keep your eyes peeled for this thug skank.
What punishment would be good enough for him?

My Favorite Holiday

Thanksgiving.
It's my favorite holiday.
We've been planning to go to my Pawpaw's house in Bauxite.
I may be staying home.
Carson is sick.
Sick as a dog.
The doctor thinks it's viral.
The strep test was negative.
Fever.
Sore throat.
Vomiting.
It may just be a quiet day at home with me and the boy.

The Season Finale

And what a finale it was!
For our last game we played at War memorial Stadium.
FUN FUN for the kids...and of course the parents.
I know I haven't bored you guys too much with football this year but I really haven't taken any pictures with my camera. I've mostly been using Tammy's and Lordy Mercy is there a ha-uge difference! It was sprinkling rain a little bit so I pulled out my own camera.
This is halftime.

Carson at QB (middle of the shot standing)
I know it's blurry!
Mike coaching the defense...Carson #15
Carson being blocked.
Being blocked again.
Quarterback sneak.
Carson with the ball.

Coach Chip giving the plays
QB Carson
Mike and Carson

It's a pass!

Crouching down behind the line
Looking for the play to be called in
Handing it off
Making the tackle
Playing some D!
Carson makes an interception
He comes into the left of the screen and then you see him eventually catch the ball.

Carson throwing the game winning touchdown pass to his homey Luke.

Blue Twisters win 6-0.

Arthur Visits

Seems as though Mike has a new friend. His name is Osteoarthritis.
These are the pictures from his surgery. On this first set of pictures (2nd row) the frayed looking rope his Mike's ACL. He had this replaced back in 2004. The doctor trimmed (shaved) this up and the results are the 3rd row of pictures.
Now look closely at this set of pictures on the bottom row on the right. Now look at the bottom set of pictures on the bottom row. This is where the ACL comes out from behind the knee. Do you see that pinkish-reddish color right beside the ACL? This is arthritis. I thought some of these pictures were not so nice looking.

He's waiting on some miracle knee replacement to come along in the next decade or so.

Handmade Gift Giving

It's adds just the right touch to gift giving...handmade.
When you put so much thought, love and effort into your gifts....well, it just gives it the right touch.
Shhhh....it's a secret.
Don't tell all the girls on my Christmas list.
This is what they'll be getting from me.
I think I'll be gifting them in all the available fashionable colors.

On A Wascally Wasp Hunt

Back in the summer Mike took on the task of painting the trim on our house...preparing to later paint the entire house. He took off from work for three days and also worked the entire weekend on it. There was lots of caulking and scraping and such. It was over 100 degrees every day. Out of all of those days that he worked...he only got the front painted. And if you know our house - it's tiny.
He was on a wasp hunt the entire time!
We always have tons of wasp around our house. A few years ago one of our neighbors saw him outside trying to fight wasps and he let him in on a little secret.
To kill a wasp this is what you need.
A powerful water gun!
One of the boys (I don't remember which one) used to call it a sooker soaker (remember the super soaker's?)
You need a sooker soaker and a little dish washing detergent. Ivory liquid, Dawn...whatever you prefer.
Mix a little in the water of your sooker soaker...be sure and get it sudsy.
Now your on the wascally wasp hunt.
(You have to say that in the voice of Porky Pig)
But the key is...
To get them before they get you.
See photo Below.
He got gotten before they got getted.
On the lip.
It was nice, fat and luscious (despite all those gray hairs in that goatee)
Just perfect for kissing.
Those dern wasp tortured him the entire time!
He was up and down that ladder SO many times.
And because he was up and down the ladder so much his knee gave him fits. It was after this little painting vacation that he decided he had to have something done to the jacked up knee.
This is one of my favorite parts to my beloved!
I love me some Mikey legs.

Oh yeah!
This is where most of those varmints live.
Mike's chosen weapon of death.
This is a totally random post isn't it?
Oh well....enjoy.

Favorite Foto(s) Friday 11/21/2008

LOVE-LOVE-LOVE this picture.
That's Carson that Mike is doing the circus trick with.
Mike always loved to show it off and our babies always loved to perform it...especially Carson.
I love that Carson was wearing a gown in this picture, too. I think gowns on itty-bitty ones are so sweet. I do remember that this gown was huge so he wore it for a while otherwise he would have already outgrown the normal newborn gowns.
This is a picture (although not a very good one) of Peepaw (Mike's Daddy) holding Mike the same way!
He is so much like his Daddy in every way possible!

Has Anyone Noticed?

Maybe it's just me. In regards to one of the elementary schools that must be moved because of a compromised roof...this is what I have noticed: in the news and in this recent press release the church that is being referred to (where the school will be moving) is just plain First Assembly Church.
I always thought it was First Assembly of God.
I took a look at their website and sometimes they even refer to themselves simply as First Assembly.
I personally like the God part of it left in there.

2 Of Them

2 of my favorite things.
1. Fresh clean sheets on my bed.
2. Laying on the couch in a clean living room when it's dark, nasty and cold outside. Candles burning, watching a chick flick with my man.

Thanks Mother Theresa

A funny story from surgery day.
While we were in pre-op the nurse anesthetist came in to give Mike his pre-anesthesia meds. You know...the good drugs they give you before they knock you out. This girl had no more taken the needle out of his IV when his eyes started crossing. He's hilarious when he's like that.
He asked me if I would wipe his eyes?!?!
I just looked at him for a sec...thinking it would pass.
"Can you wipe my eyes...they're wet?"
Ummm - yeah.
I take the gown he was wearing and use the top of it to wipe his eyes (and they were watering).
Mike's response...
"Thanks Mother Theresa"
Drugs.
They do funny things to a person.

All Cleaned Out

Mike had knee surgery today.

It was an awfully early morning. We had to be at Arkansas Surgical Hospital at 6:00 am. We took Carson over to my parents house so they could get him to school. Dr. Scott Bowen performed his surgery. Back in January of 2004 he had surgery to replace his ACL (that ligament shown in the middle of the knee in the picture below. He tore his ACL while playing soccer (thanks for asking him to play Chris Burks!) We knew that he would need more surgery eventually and he finally came to that point. He said he was tired of it hurting all the time. Today Dr. Bowen went in to 'clean it out'.
It took probably less than 30 minutes. He went in and had to clean up some frayed ends on the ACL. He said that he had to shave about 1/3 of it off. He also shaved some of the meniscus (on both sides of the ACL) and shaved up and cleaned out behind the kneecap.
The surgery may help...some.
But Dr. Bowen said that he would probably need a total knee replacement by the time he is 50....in 10 years. (yes, honey - that's in 10 years!!)We'll just have to see about that. Mike said that for that to happen he would have to be really bad.
His last knee surgery resulted in a blood clot in his leg. After a night in the hospital I had to give him shots in the stomach of a blood thinner. He got over it and PTL it never affected him. This surgery was way less in depth and he's way more mobile than he was with the last (although by the above picture you wouldn't think so).
Look what's on the pillow.
A cell phone.
A blackberry.
A remote.
What more does a man need?
Check out the great job they did on shaving his leg. Smoother than mine...of course that doesn't say much!
