Candy girl

There she is. My Candy girl. Candice and her guy Clint. She was in my Sunday school class a few years back when I taught 7th and 8th grade girls. What a treat! I can't say how much teaching actually went on...we'll just say that lots of life lessons were learned. She is precious to Mike and I and our boys love her, too. Even Kody. My mom thinks she and Kody will marry some day. I'm not so sure Candice and Kody think that way. Mike and I would love it. She is precious!

Tagged

My friend, Amy, tagged me! Here's the deal: List 7 random things that people may not know about you. The rules are to link the person who sent this to you and leave a comment on their blog so their readers can visit yours. Post the rules on your blog. Share 7 facts about yourself. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, linking their blog. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

1. I hate to be social. I guess that sounds really bad-I should say that I hate to be in social environments. I get really anxious at the thought of a social gathering. I have discovered that at the last few functions that I attended I feel much more at ease if I'm one of the first ones there. BUT...as many of you may know - I'M LATE EVERY WHERE I GO!

2. I have a celebrity in my family. Sort of. His name is Jim Reeves and he is somehow related to my paternal grandfather...by marriage...I think. I've asked my Dad about it probably a million times but I always seem to forget. Watch his video here. He has a beautiful voice and I think you'll recognize the song. Please, don't ask me to get his autograph for you - - he's dead!

3. I, like one of Amy's friends that was tagged, am becoming interested in photography. I would love to know how my new camera works...if only someone could teach me. I am SO not interested in reading the instruction manual. I love to look at pictures of people mostly. Different angles, colors...I just think it's the neatest.

4. I secretly would LOVE to sky dive. How insane is that? If I could be promised beyond the shadow of a doubt that nothing would happen and all would go well...I would do it. Just too risky...I have my kids to think about.

5. I would really love to get into this blogging thing. Not that my chaos is interesting to anyone but me, but I wish that I could just fluently right like my friend Becky and that it might touch someone or in some way be interesting or even motivating to someone else. Although Mike gets aggravated when he sees me sit down at the computer and the fact that I've really been slacking in the blog department, I really do love it and I just might surprise you in the next weeks!

6. I want a tattoo. I know-I know...white trash!

7. My nick name growing up was Geeby. I couldn't say goofy...so geeby it was!

I won't tag anyone else...but if any of you feel the need to participate in this little reindeer game, go for it. But please comment me and let me know. I'd love to read it!

Enjoy it,

~Shannon

On The Mend

I am loving me some Tami flu...and this man.
My pediatrician, Dr. Jerry Byrum. I LOVE this man - along with Tami flu. I'm not exactly sure how bad Carson's flu would have been without this bottle of pure gold. Dr. Byrum has treated my kids from the start. A wonderful Christina man who leads music in his church.
Carson woke up Tuesday morning...with real tears, saying that his head hurt. Mike decided to stay at home with him...WHAT? Thanks, honey! I'm glad you did. He ran a really low grade fever all day and napped for a long time in the early evening. Don't you usually know that your kids are sick when they nap? After his 2 1/2 hour nap he seemed fine and was in a really good mood. Wednesday A.M. - not so good. I stayed home and took him in to the doc. Tests were administered. A strep test-down the throat, always a favorite of Carson's and a flu test-up the nose. No strep. Just the flu. He has felt pretty bad but today I think he's on the down hill slide. Not really any fever to speak of, maybe a little low grade. I guess we'll keep him home tomorrow, too - just for good measure.
My mom and dad stopped by last night to check on Carson and bring him some Popsicle's. Doesn't every sick kid need Popsicle's? I can't believe that I didn't remember to get him any while I was on my nightmare trek to Wal-Mart Yesterday afternoon. Thanks Nanna and Poppa. I guess we'll split the box and bring them right back to ya. She's sick today. I strongly encouraged her to get to the doctor. She said she didn't feel like going. I explained to her (as was explained to me by my fave man pediatrician - not to be confused with my fave female pediatrician Dawn Martin) how Tami flu works. She's gotta get it. I will swear by this stuff from here on out. I DO NOT WANT THIS MESS! One thing I have forgotten to get...to help ward off the evil flu - LYSOL!
Off to Wal-Mart again,

We've Got It!

The flu that is.
Carson has Influenza B, which is the less serious strand. We, so far have been SO healthy this winter. I was telling someone the other day that noone in my home had been sick-yet. I seem to always speak too soon. I'm hoping the medicine starts working today.
Here's to Tamiflu,

So my Valentine post is a little late. I started the day very early...as in 5 am early. I got up to make these cute little heart cakes. Today is Saturday and no one has eaten them. Hmm....probably because I also made these...which were actually to die for.
V E R Y good!

Breakfast was Eggo Mini's served on the cutest Valentine plates.

The rose that Chase got for his girl.

A little goody that I made for Mike.

A small photo album full of pictures of just us (and some of the boys, too)

These are some of the pics included -
This was taken the day after I had Kody. It was NOT a good time in our relationship...or lack thereof. But he hung with me...and I with him...and here we are NOW!

This is my Senior prom picture. How bout that shiney, flashy dress, huh?Better yet - how bout that waistline????

How many of you can say that your first born was included in your prom pictures? Gah, that almost sounds like a 'you might be a redneck' joke, huh? Pictures of pictures. My scanner won't work so I'll try to get my husband (who, by the way, does that for a living) to fix it.

Loving him more all the time,
~Shannon

Past <3's Day

In a hunt for a few Valentine things, I logged in on our home computer under Mike's name. Lo and behold...I've found a pot-o-gold. Pictures. Lots of them. You all know how I love to post pictures. Here are a few from Valentine's Day of 2005. The first graders always have a dance with parents invited. It's a fun time dress up and learn a few dances. This was our second go round with it as Chase had the very same first grade teacher. It's so much fun.
Carson and his teacher.
He actually put his napkin on his lap...can you believe that?
Parents are invited to dance, too.
I'm diggin the dark hair. Why do I like that so much? Although, I am SO ready to be blonde again. Soon...very soon.
Dipping Carson
Carson's dance partner for the day
LOVED IT!!!!!!

Couldn't get by without one goober picture!
Dancing with the Dad. The next weekend was our annual Mother/Son Valentine Banquet at our old church. My boys (their daddy) ALWAYS had a corsage for me. I was ALWAYS the envy of all the Moms. Thanks guys! I always felt special!
Our old church again. This was the semi-annual True Love Waits with Chase. His first year to participate as a youth. Such a great program.
So are YOU ready for Valentine's Day? Mike and I will celebrate this weekend. Nothing for tomorrow...plus everything Valentine will be on sale this weekend. Just Kidding. I don't really see the need to celebrate. I love my Valentine EVERY day!
<3,
~Shannon

Survivor

The is the home of the Mother-In-Law of one of my co-workers. This picture was taken in November after several thousands of dollars were spent placing siding on this quant home. The owner of this humble abode is 92 years old.
She's a survivor.
She survived last Tuesday's deadly tornado. She was taken from her home and tossed about landing about 100 yards behind the shed to the left. She has a broken shoulder blade, both legs are broken, a very deep laceration that will require skin grafts, and broken vertebrae. There is no place on her broken and battered body that you cannot see or touch that isn't scraped, cut, scratched or bruised.
Notice the railing in the front porch in the picture above.
Now look at the pic below.
It's the only thing left.

The kitchen

The den. Front view (porch)
These are appliances.
Another view of the kitchen.
The last word that I heard at work were that the doctors were guardedly hopeful that she will make a full recovery. Pray for Ms. Ona, her family, and her caregivers.

Please, child!

Please...could he be any more like his Daddy?
His looks, his actions...what did I do to deserve this?

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Descendants - Search for family tree for free

All Jacked Up

This thing is crazy. More people say lately that he looks like me than Mike.
Oh well, this web-site was cheap Saturday night entertainment for me.

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Family heritage - Roots

Not sure sure about this one either...

I think he looks more like Mike, too!

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Family reunion - Family finder

Look-A-Likes

A little Saturday night boredom.
Not sure why the whole thing won't fit...but the one on my far right is Kirsten Dunst. The one to the far right on Mike's is rocking Rod Stewart

Diamond Dave, Wolfgang...his Dad Edward and Uncle Alex

The aforementioned all belong to the legendary rock band
Van Halen!
ENOUGH SAID
Kody brought me this poster after it was
printed at his place of employment.
He DOES love his Momma.

Our tickets to ROCK!

THE guitar...and yes, he did play THIS guitar (my favorite).

They've still got it...old age and ALL!

Class DISMISSED.....
