Blast From The Past

I had to take Mike to his football game tonight at McClellan High School in southwest Little Rock. We were early getting there (seriously, we were early!) so he told me just to drive around for a few minutes.

I knew exactly where to go.

This is the the house that it all started in.
The house that Mike, his brother and 2 sisters grew up in
(until Mike was about 8 or so).We drove by as we often do, and Mike thought it looked empty. He got out of the car and walked up close to the house. I saw him peering in that front window, there. I was a bit fearful, looking around with my head on a swivel. It is no longer a neighborhood...but the hood! Well, needless to say the house is empty. Mike motioned for me to come take a look. I got out of the car and met him around back where he had already disappeared to. The door was open!

"Go get the camera."

Mike asked me to blog about this and since I like him so much...I'll do it for him-and his siblings. And it depends on what day it is as to whether or not I like his siblings----just kidding!

So here it is, for Mike, Carol, Lisa and Larry - - -

This is as you enter from the back door...the kitchen. More of the kitchen.

From inside the bathroom. The hallway from the other end.
Mike said that his siblings used to take him in his
walker and sling him down this hallway.
That explains a lot! Master bedroom.

Kitchen Kitchen
Just outside the back door. Mike is explaining to me that he lit a match one day and dropped it into a pile of leaves that was right outside this back door. He said he figured he might need to check on it and went back, opened the door and encountered flames!
Concrete slab in the back yard that once held a storage building.
Each kid had their name in the 4 corners of the slab. Sorry the pics are sideways...I tried several different times but each time it turned the picture sideways.
'Mike 1971'
'Lisa 1971'
'Carol 1971' 'Larry 1971' Mike trying to find each name. Back yard. Back of the house.
The fence that Lisa ran into with a scooter.
The house that Lisa nearly burned down across the street.
OK, she really just burned their storage shed down.

Can you imagine trying to raise 4 kids in this itty bitty house?
